Well, the XNH here doesn;t have a 'high profile' type job. He is a concrete, sand, gravel driver. BUT.... he is "the BEST in the whole company!" or " I've driven more backwards than most people have forwards"

Because his brothers work in the same company....they are ALWAYS in competition.... XNH says "I got them their job..." or " They learned from the best!"Or "they never would have gotten the job if it wasn't for me."

I am soooo glad to not have to listen to his annoying comments anymore...... :?

Real Estate agent who doesn't believe in working at it by day... waits for people to knock on his door ... gives him lots of time to hook up and cheat. Student working on Masters in Counseling and plagiarizng all his papers by night...so he can be alone in an office with vulnerable women looking to him for all the answers and he can 'soothe' them. He's such a people person you know. Never tires of talking about how stupid or flawed everyone is.

:wink: Gina.. I can tell you my XNP the paramedic is lazy, he arranged to have an area where he hardly get's any call's, so he sit's at a hospital flirting with nurses all day long. He might do 1 call in an entire day.

Several vocations meet these requirements: teaching, the priesthood, show business, corporate management, the medical professions, politics, and sports. It is safe to predict that narcissists would be over-represented in these occupations.

Retired teacher, who was also the union rep for his school, ran for union president and lost, blamed his wife for losing as she didn't hand out enough flyers. Was also a semi-pro wrestling manager, book distributor, author of two failed books and columnist for japanese female wrestling.

XN was a carpenter, window washer, pizza delivery driver, now is a customer support technician. he's underpaid and doesn't care, and although he works hard when he has a job, he's actually lazy. inertia drives him. if he didn't have to work, he wouldn't. I've seen him sit on the couch for weeks on end doing nothing, lifting not a finger. the threat of divorce got him looking for a job. he won't look further to better his situation because staying in one place is easier, unless he's used everyone up and needs to move on.

lynlou, I see yours was a firefighter, mine was a paramedic. I was talking to a female paramedic today, she's been in the biz for 20 years (I've only been in it a few). We were talking about XNP, who she knows, and she said don't ever date anyone in EMS or firefighting, they all cheat on their wives, and I have to tell you, I have found this to be true also!!!!

It's crazy, because most women think they're such good guy's, I did too.. I thought surely somone who saves lives for a living is a good guy.

Now I know psychopaths are drawn to exciting careers, with built in respect and adulation.

So to all you women out there... Consider yourselves warned!!! Just b/c they save lives for a living doesn't automatically make them good guy's!!!!
And personally, I'm gonna take her advice and stay away from the men in my profession!!

Stillsmilen and Lynlou - I so relate. You can add cop to that firefighter/paramedic list. Same dynamic/same behavior. They get the public adulation of being a 'good guy' who locks up 'bad guys', but can be absolutely insensitive and cruel to their partners. Although there are some good eggs among them, there are some really awful people in those professions. They use their public image to get away with their private destruction of others' lives. It is so refreshing (and also sad) to read the real take on these guys . . .

Corporate guru...managed everything from Harras Casino in NO to Starbucks in VA...did management training on over 250 employees...yata yata yata. Now she can only get a job shipping cars...telemarketer!! YUK!!
She puts up a good front with all her accomplishments...but can't back any of it up! Now she can only use her mouth to make money because she can hide behind a phone. Her mouth is her weapon...as it always has been. :roll:

The exNP was/is on disability because he had a closed head injury as a child (he doesn't use his right hand well). He, one year, had 16 jobs, ranging from janitor to fast food cashier. He either quit or got fired. Most years, he was merely a disabled guy that sponged off his two previous wives and me. The entire time we were together (9 years), he didn't work, but he sure fancied himself a race car driver, and continued to want to build stock cars. Truth is, he wasted a whole bunch of money on building these cars (I worked, he didn't), and he was a lousy driver. BUt he acted like he was going to have breakfast with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

I've really enjoyed reading this thread. My stbxnbf is in medical sales at a small company and, according to him, he singlehandedly, "saved" the company from going under. Everyone there LOVES him. He is "the man" and he tells me that almost every night. Of course being in sales, he gets to find lots of new NS every day.
