Dear Milo,
Thank you for thinking about me, you are such a sweet lady. I had my surgery on March 25. I am in the recovery stage. Being good and doing what the doctor told me. May be having a problem but it is nothing serious and can be easily fixed. The Doctor and I are watching it. I have an appointment scheduled for May 2 but they have someone on call 24/7 if I need them. I will be back around when I get my feet back on firm ground. How are you doing? Take care of yourself and thank you for thinking of me.

Dear Milo,
I don't mind the question. I went through the surgery well. The day after the surgery my vision was 20/20. I noticed on Monday, March 31, that I had developed floaters in my eye. I went in yesterday to be examined. He dilated my eye to check for infection, detachment or tears and did not see any. My vision has decreased a small amount. It was 20/30 yesterday. Sometimes there can be a clouding behind the lens after surgery. I am not well versed in the ins and outs of the eye so I don't remember all the facts. We did discuss this before the surgery so I did know about it but thought it would happen later on, as in years. What they do is zap it with a laser and it clears it up. It is done in the office, no pain involved. Unfortunately, I have to wait 3 months before they will even consider doing this. They want to make sure the new lens in firmly attached and in place. The vision will decrease gradually sort of like it did with my cataracts but is fixable and done very easily. Of course if there is a sudden decrease in the vision or increase in the floaters he told me to call the office immediately. They are on call 24/7.
If the vision decrease is where my vision will sit permanently I am OK with that. My vision is still 100% better than before the surgery. I have started reading again. I am addicted to books and could spend the whole day reading. I have always been a big reader. It is fun to get back into the books. I am planning on going to the book store next week. I am so excited can't wait.
Thank you so much for asking about me. (((Milo))), are you doing OK? I hope live is treating you well and everything is OK.
Thank you,
mikey

Am a prolific reader too Mikey. We have a great public library here, thank goodness, as I can't afford to buy books these days and my bookshelves are already overflowing anyway and 'tis probably time for me to 'bite the bullet' and do some culling. (I find it really hard to part with books.)
I'm basically coping OK at the moment Mikey and thank you too for asking and caring.
Keep happy and well dear soul.
Hugs, Milo

Dear Milo,
I understand how painful it can be getting rid of books, I have a hard time doing that too. I use to love going to the library but I am not good at returning them. It seems like I never get them back on time. Also, if I really like a book or a series I sometimes re-read them. I now or use to only keep books that are series or ones I very, very like. My Mom use to get me a subscription to The Alfred Hitchcock magazine. It is a mystery short story one. I use to read them at night right before I fell asleep and on the bus going to work. I lost tons of books when I left my ex so quickly. I never had a chance to get downstairs to the storage bins in my old apartment complex. I use to collect Star Trek books and had around 30 of them but that is over and done with. I have been looking online and found a few places. Some of them have paperbacks for under a $1. May try ordering from there will let you know how trustworthy they are.
Hang in there. I will send some good vibes to you. I am thinking about you tonight and wishing you the best.

At public library here Mikey we can borrow 10 books (20 over Xmas period) at a time for a month. There are no late fees or fines. You just can't borrow again until all books returned.
I'm into mysteries and sci- fi/ fantasy as well.
Have you ever got into the medieval murder mysteries?

Dear Milo,
No I have not read medieval mysteries, can you recommend a book or an author? Right now I am re-reading the Neoscope series by Brian Lumley. It is a sci-fi/horror series. It is about vampires. It is funny I am a chicken but these books don't scare me like some books can.
Boy, you are lucky, no late fees at the library. Sometimes by the time I pay the fines I could have almost bought the book. LOL
Have a good day and am looking forward to some recommendations from you.

Mikey,
How's the reading and book buying going?
Have you ever read anything by Sheri Tepper? (Sci/ Fantasy with strong female characters and themes. Think you might enjoy her books.)
I'm hopeless when I get involved in a book. Can literally sit oblivious to the rest of the world for hours reading one that engrosses me from cover to cover.
Look forward to some recommendations from you too.
Cheers, Milo

Dear Milo,
Well, I dusted my brain off trying to think of some authors, dug deep and remembered a few.
When I was young I outgrew children and teen books before I was old enough to start reading adult books. I was bored with them because I was reading at an older level than I really was. I sit in limbo till my Mom caught me reading Valley of the Dolls which freaked her out because I was too young. She turned me loose on some of the mild adult books. One of the first authors that I started reading was Mary Stewart. I mention her because she has a series that has stuck in my mind after all these years. She wrote (3 books I think) about Merlin and King Arthur. I enjoyed them a lot and they were not the *yawn* typically books that my Mom gave me to read. Some other authors that I have read in recent years and plan to look into again are:
1. John Stanford - books about a policeman who solves serial killings
2. Sue Grafton - she writes the ABC mystery books. Main character is a female PI.
3. James Patterson - his main character in a series of books is Alex Cross. He is a detective in Washington DC. He wrote the book that the movie "Kiss the Girls Goodbye was taken from.
3. Dean Koontz - writes books in the same theme as Stephen King. I have sort of burned out on Stephen King. Honestly, I have not read books by Dean Koontz in a while but liked some of his books quite a lot. One of my favorite books from him is Watchers. I read it years and years ago but it still sticks in my mind.
I am reading a lot but gave my eyes a rest and stopped because my housework was calling me. LOL I too can read through a hurricane and not realize that one went through. I can spend all day reading a book. I have always been like that. I always get excited when I find a thick paperback that will last longer than a week. I am glad that my Mom was a avid reader and taught by example that reading can be an adventure and so exciting.
I am looking forward to my trip to the bookstore. I am planning on going towards the end of the week. Have things to take care of till about Wednesday. Will let you know what ones I decide on. Thanks again for the tips on the authors. I have copied them to a folder and will take their names with me when I go.
