I find it horrifying that this is not more uncommon, even among us. I talked extensively to the therapist this morning- she gave me some tips. Also I think I will try to follow up on the martial arts idea once soccer season is over.

The situation with N is being dealt with. The things that have gone on are not secrets. I can't present the whole picture here, but the child is protected. I am not protecting N nor am I worrying what he will think or do.

Sailor:
As much as I love the Simpsons, I rarely watch it and do not let my children watch it. I did see the most recent movie and have to admit that Homer reminded me of N. Except in the end, Homer comes around. That didn't seem to happen in my case. However, I don't let the kids watch violent tv, don't even have cable, they don't have video games, and are only allowed computer games that are educational and/or nonviolent.

Dagna,

I'm so sorry you and your kids have to deal with this.

Dagna, I actually wonder if N himself is copying the Simpsons? I believe that one of the N traits is to have the mind of a child (a very sick and evil child). I don't want to create a red herring in this very serious matter but could it be that N thinks that this is what fathers do, assuming he watches that sort of TV. Remember that N is the root cause of all this. I'm glad to see you are now involving outside help. You are clearly giving your kids excellent guidance and boundaries.
Summer, my God you have been to Hell and back It's another example that what everyone posts on here is very often only scratching the surface of all that goes on with these lunatic Ns.

My ExN emulates Homer Simpson all the time, so I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Dagna's ex is doing the same thing.

These N's have such a profound effect on their children, and it is unfortunate what our kids learn from them. Dagna, I concur with everyone else that the martial arts training is the best option if you can squeeze it into their schedules. They are never going to learn from their dad that what they are doing is wrong, and my experience is that my D resists anything I tell her that goes against things her dad did. Having martial art experts show them the right thing may go alot farther than mom or the therapist saying it.

Oh my, Sailor. I didn't think of it that way. God help us all.
