I also like Coldplay - most of the time, and Chris Martin cos he seems really nice.
Pinky - Thats a great song. BTW I love your motto - its great and very true! Good on you!
Well, heres my next contribution for a laugh. This song by Talking Heads used to be a great favourite. "Psycho Killer". Little did I know Id end up living with one LOL.

i spent most of last weekend jamming to Paul Simon and Meatloaf. I plan on spending this weekend listening to the gorgeous harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel. I love harmony. It's like feeding and watering my soul! _________________

Tee,
I had a boyfriend in high school who looked like Jackson Browne, only taller...he was a hottie!! I have to admit (and I hate to because you love him so much but), I don't care too much for Paul Simon, but I absolutely loved him and Art Garfunkel together.....they were da bomb together...I kinda feel the same way about Paul McCartney...I don't like his music alone, but I LOVED him with the Beatles....I liked John Lennon though, with or without the Beatles....sad day when he died.... _________________ NLHV

Well Sweetie, to each his own right? S&G together were awesome but as most groups are awesome but they are volatile. S&G surprisingly broke up over Bridge Over Troubled Water-creative differences......... The Beatles disbanded over creative differences- The Beach boys- creative differences. Most cases are the better they get the more they fight.
Jackson Browne held it together because he was by himself lol!
And I agree about Macca. I thought that he wrote and did silly love songs by himself lol He worked together better with his music soulmate Lennon!
Some times in music there is a magical thing, but most of the time the artists mucked it up for sure! _________________

"if music be the food of love, play on"! Shakespeare was right.
Okay, I love:
beatles, beatles, beatles!!!!!!!!
simon and garfunkle, and I share with tammy the love of paul simon,
I love
african, (music from mali in particular)
peruvian folk music,
chillean folk music,
appalachian blue grass
12th century hymns by Hildegarde von bingem (very soothing and calming)
celtic music (yep, the chieftains)
native american flute
native american song and prayer song
I love
classical music
tchiakovsy, mozart, beethoven, mendelsohn (sorry for the bad spelling)
I never used to like country music at all, but my lovely hubby is a country music love (though he likes the old stuff) and I guess I have learnt - now by osmosis and by knowing the people here and how they live etc, that it fits, and I like Johnny Cash and alot of country music (yep urban)
I lurrrv latin music for dancing, especially cumbias,
and occasionally I will have a hankering for reggae.
I love old blues...there was a collection album I had under the bannerhead "petunias" (guess I could google it) and all those old big mamma thornton songs etc were there, these were songs that defied victimology, and were breathtaking!
And as I am an aussie,
well...I HAVE TO TELL YA GOOGLE PAUL KELLY, he is one of the best singer/songwriters ever! Also please google "yothu yindi" an aboriginal band. I love aboriginal music.
I love "world music" and am fascinated by all the different ways each culture celebrates and uses music to heal...
I definitely recommend trying to pick up an instrument to learn how to play..(hint Tammy- you should do this for sure!) No matter what age..it's a great healing process. I am learning piano right now.
It's funny, and I have tried to figure out why it is that I feel this way, but I can't get into rap at all.....and I think it's the aggro and the hateful lyrics that predominate most of what I have heard that puts me off. I want to understand it, but I haven't yet. I remember reading what Mickey Hart (from the Who) said about drumming, (he'd travelled the world and studied with different cultures about drumming techniques) and he talked about how drums set the emotional tone of everything. He talked about how it was the "heartbeat" of every song and how you could manipulate a crowd via that. I somehow feel with rap, being synth drums (not real) and an angry beat (oh yeah there are angry beats, think of "war song chants" from any culture) can somehow alter your feelings....I don't want to be manipulated by someone else's agenda, or hate.....I don't know...rap grates on me. I feel like someone is about to commit murder......
country might be "whiny" but I can deal with that better than "mo f*ck*rs and ho's" set to an angry synthetic beat. I also don't like sampling. It's just plaguerism to me....
I've raved longenouugh, now I will shut up.
I like music.

No Longer,
Super Trooper, Take A Chance On Me...... There is a band that came out in around 2001 called A Teens that my youngest kid liked. They did all Abba stuff and I love the CD they did and still play. It's Abba 2000'ish. They are great. And I don't do Disco. hehehe. I consider Disco the time when music threw up......... LOL
Sonny and Cher..... Love most anything by them.. Of course love I Got You Babe, The Beat Goes On... Almost anything they did. Sixties is my passion anyway. _________________
