Hello all -

A friend just let me borrow the book Understanding the Borderline Mother by Christine Ann Lawson. Although it is about Borderline Personality Disorder, I found it helpful. My therapist says that NPD and BPD are different, but it is possible to suffer from both.

It was very helpful to me - I hope it will be helpful to you.

Very good read, it's heavy, my NM & NP are the king and queen described in the book, perfectly described. I think NPD and Borderline have many similarites. What do you think? wlw

Yes -- I think borderline and NPs share some same characteristics.

My NM rages like a borderline, but she doesn't cut herself or ever suffer remorse. She flies off the handle about the littlest thing -- just like a borderline. You never know when it's going to happen or what will set off the raging. She once went on a rage because she thought my purse was too big. How dare I bring along such a large bag to a nice restaurant. I think she thought it made her look bad.

A friend of mine who is a psychiatrist said that people can have characteristics of both personality disorders.
