Echo,

OMG! David Gahn, lead singer of Depehe Mode...love him...LOL I do love the bad boys...hum that is very telling isn't it. The last that i heard was he was clean and sober, well trying to be, they put out an album like 3 yrs ago and I fell in love with the song "Precious" it was written by Martin Gore a band member who wrote it about his divorce and his children, great song:

Depeche Mode - Precious
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCS4e_NgGew

Piercings...how many do I have...LOL well actually only have 3...2 in one ear and 1 in the other. Just like Windy I have a cartlidge story, when I was a teenager I wanted a hoop at the top of my ear, my mother did it but it got infected so I went to have it professionally done and they would not do it, they said I didn't have enough cartildge up at the top of my ear so I had a second hole put in my lower lobe.

But have always wanted a nose ring but would never do it, can't do that for work reasons. And cause it scares me...just thinking about how painful it might be...ekkkkkkkkkkk.

But talking being a punk fan...LOL did all sorts of crazy things to my hair...shave sides of my head, dyed it all different colors...now that was fun!

OMG! YOU LOVE BILLY IDOL...Gabs has a crush on Billy Idol...the man is still hot and think he is either in his 50's or 60's...my favorite little ditty by Billy...

Dancing with Myself - Billy Idol

Gabs.....I keep getting a message that Precious wont play for me, maybe it wasnt released here?

Dave Gahn, thats it!! Oh yes.....I used to like him lots too!!! My favourite crush of that era was the lead singer of Thompson Twins.....oh boy!! And Brian Ferry too....oh, and Anthony Kiedis of RHCP - Windy and I used to fight over him (pity he never knew....we once did a board read of his book. She, I and another member read it together, really good fun.....darent tell you what the book club members decided he was!!! LOL)

Now I never shaved my head, and wouldnt ever have pierced anywhere but ears(I was probably a faux-punk, LOL) but I did dye my hair all the colours I could think of...I really enjoyed that.

LOLOL - I dont think you are on your own with the bad boys thing - thats probably what got us all into trouble hehe!

Billy Joel is just a maestro - everything he ever did is fantastic..I love him.

And I missed out Robert Palmer........deep sigh........god rest him!

Tilda - LOLOLOL- Lukky would say thats my song!!!! - LOVE Little Shop of Horrors.....especially Theymour and Steve Martins dentist.......laughing now, I bought the DVD finally a few weeks ago so I can watch it any time I like...

I bought a Billy Idol CD for Echo in a thrift shop and you guys are gonna laugh with me on this.... but I most of the time don't care much for eighties music (echo can tell ya) but one night to fill up my IPOD space cause me and my son listen to it, I put Billy on it.

OMG

I had no idea how much I had loved Billy Idol!

And at 3am in the morning listening to my IPOD writing on the computer Dancing With Myself came on, I'm laughing now but I shut the door to my room so I wouldn't wake up the babies and I uh, just DANCED WITH MYSELF!

I questioned my sanity and everything that I had hurt, but I had the best time I had in a longgggggggggggggg time!!!!!!! and when I need to I plan on doing it again and again....... I danced like a fool, dances I didn't know and even made some up! HA HA HA!

Depeche mode is the group that did "I'll Stop The World And Melt With You" aren't they? Gawd I loved that song. I was a Valley Girl who wore my jeans up to my shins and a pony tail on the side of my head. I, like, you, know, like talked the talk and like, walked the walk. Much more valley girl than punk tho I did color my hair in several places. I was the oddball out but I had a few friends who were odder than me and we would cut school together, smoke weed and get drunk when we could. OH GOD my dad reads this board (but he knows, sorry dad!)

Tildy thank you for all of the songs I am going to listen to them in between doing my house work because I want to watch the videos too.

and who knows maybe i'll get those top piercings with one son's birthstone on one side and one on the other. I want a tatoo but I'm too chicken!

Echo me darlin! you should go to my new board and make a dedication to our love Robert Palmer. It's just a board to learn to grieve and our stars are one as well.

http://memorials.freeforums.org/index.php?sid=846787434c4c5ebf7e4abb9c06c285e8

It's just a board to mourn if you need to. It's also a board to remember fun things and loving things about people who have affect you in some way.

Just about anything Billy Joel does, does it for me. Gabs, We Didn't Start The Fire was always one of my favorites And It's My Lifelllllllll yeah baby!

But when I was a child I heard It's Still Rock And Rock And Roll To Me in my grandmothers basesment and skating around for hours. I loved it.

Echo wrote:
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Knoxy and Gabs......The Clash!!!! Twisted Evil I forgot them for a while how could I? And I love the Ramones too....and all that CeeBeeGeeBees stuff.

Now youve got me...Im remembering the day I saw Billy Idol walking down the road with a bare chest and a massive flag tied round his neck(Windy knows I loved Billy Idol too when as well as Gen X) and

Yes, Elvis Costello is brilliant whatever he plays...have you heard Red Shoes?, and I love Allison. I also think Burt Bacharach is extremely cool and always will be.

Cant believe that you have to miss that Elvis/Police gig....Windy and I would probably give our right arms to go to that...well, Id give hers anyway LOL Laughing (Sorry windy!) Shocked Twisted Evil

OK Fess up Punker Ladies...how many piercings do you have in your ears? Had 5 in one ear and 4 in the other...sadly no longer used. cos now I am sort of like Knoxy, well next stage on, bit older I think...through the hard working yuppie stage and living in the country with a dog - though will always be a bit rebellious at heart LOL

Im really excited to find some Punk fans......

Gabs, I love the Cure, Robert Smith......an icon, oh and New Order.... and Brian Ferry - fantastic!

And what happened to that guy that was lead singer of Depeche Mode - he was so clean cut? lol

Also love Billy Joel, and the Boss....and......Thompson Twins, idolise early Lou Reed and ...oh carry on someone .... Laughing

I spent four hours at Disneyland with the Cure in 1986. They are wonderful men. They let a crushing 16 year old girl hang out with them. I will never forget that night, ever.

Billy Idol is often at punk shows here in L.A. I saw him a few times at various shows, but not so much lately.

God, I love music and I especially love recounting stories of my rock boy run ins. Smile

I've always been quite conservative - burgandy spiked hair as a kid, but never more than one earring in each ear. I am such a yuppie. Smile

So fun!!!!

Oh Windy.....I can just see you dancing around to Billy Idol - I hope you were practising the "sneer" as you did it LOL

I will try and get over to the new board and post about Robert....it would be a nice place to remember him.

Have you seen those pictures that Gabs has posted?.....I am undone Shocked Wink Anthony with short blond hair...and Tom looking young..(Hey gabs...google him now...he ran off to where Lukky lives with the girl from the band and well......should have been me LOLOL)

Knoxy.we love to hear your rock boy run ins! Got any more? Wink

My husband did some work for Robert Smith about 10 years ago, he has a huge big house in the country with a deer park and a cute girlfriend alas Crying or Very sad

He also worked for Nick Cave. He said both of them were absolute gentlemen!

Thanks for starting this thread Windy and to everyone for telling their thoughts....its such good fun!

Anyone like Ian Dury and the Blockheads?

Rock girlfriends and wives can be problematic. Sad Laughing

Dave Grohl is married and his wife is a bitch. HA HA HA. I've never had a run in with her, but I know folks who have. Nice people who just wanted a chat with Dave and she lost her noodle. Who knows... maybe he's an N too.

I've met Dave twice in the last year. He is very sweet and kind. I think I've posted the story here a couple of times - I can repost if you want.

Living in L.A. my whole life and loving music, you have to imagine I've seen quite a few folks. Rod Stewart, Bono, Billy Idol, Johnny Marr, Morrissey, Slash, Neil Diamond, Jared Leto ... a ton of punker dudes. They are often just hang out at shows and stuff...

Fun stuff. Seeing celebs/musicians never gets old for me. I saw a famous basketball player at dinner last night, but I can't for the life of me remember his name and I was too embarrassed to ask. Smile
