I've got tons more through itunes and bought off of amazon lately. Reckon I probably got about 300-400 CD's now and about 200 tapes.
What you guys listening to right now?
I downloaded "King Of The Road" and "Sixteen Tons" and boy have I had some fun lately!!!!!!! Dancing around the room, singing in bass, my kids are certain I have lost it!
And who the heck listens to "White Christmas" by the Drifters in May? Yep. That's me. You ought to see the dance moves me and my youngest son do!
But seriously? I just don't get his music. _________________

You are the coolest, Windsong.
I downloaded the soundtrack to my favorite movie, Stranger Than Fiction. The Reckless Rick "Whole Wide World" and Jam's "That's Entertainment" are my faves. Morrissey covered "That's Entertainment' in the 90's - it was AWESOME.
I'm also listening to one of my favorite newer bands (newer to me - but they've been around for years) called "Against Me." Great lyrics, great melody with a punk edge - their energy is INCREDIBLE live - they are a great band and I was lucky enough to see them open up for the Foos all this year (I had seen them before they toured with the Foos and loved them).

Here is their hit, Thrash Unreal:

Bad video quality, but here they are live on Jimmy Kimmel. Awesome energy. God, I love these guys. Political too. Punk and politics? Holy hell, I'm in heaven.

We have music wars here between my teenage kids and myself. I'm mostly a folksy type. S15 is into death metal. S12 follows whatever S15 likes, just a half-step behind, and is a big fan of Linkin Park. They love to commandeer my car stereo, plugging in their MP3 players, banning my Natalie Merchant, Van Morrison, Jerry Garcia, and Bruce Cockburn CDs.
We agree on Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam. That's about it. I have been fully indoctrinated with Breaking Benjamin, Rise Against, Heaven Shall Burn. It's not bad stuff.
I like their metal a lot better than some of the stuff the kids listen to today, like techno and rap. Their music isn't much different than old metal, like Metallica stuff, except they add those weird vocals. I remember when we were kids, our parents made fun of the vocals in our music, saying How can you even understand what they're saying? That's not singing! What goes around comes around.
I'm hoping to take S15 to a Pearl Jam concert this summer. It'll be his first big concert.
I'm also a big blues fan. Can't get enough. Kids hate it, of course, except for Led Zep. Don't know why they see it as so different, it's really just electric blues (but don't tell them that).

Now you know, I have it all figured it out. Just WHY my parents looked at me like I was nuts when I listened to my music.
Hell they still look at me like I am nuts when I listen to my music.
and I look at my kids like they are nuts. LOL They got into one group for awhile called "The Fray" who did How To Save A Life. Son 16 is a fledgling Boss fan. He plays his stuff quite a bit. Otherwise -----------blip------------nothing at all!!!!!!! _________________

I love The Jam. And hell yeah, I love Morrissey.
I am seeing Robert and Allison at the Austin Music Festival in September. The Foos and Beck are headlining and my other favorite band, Against Me is playing as well.
Woo hooooooooo!

Hi Knoxy,
The Jam were one of my favourite bands of that era, I think my favourites were the Stranglers. Windy will laugh now cos I love punk - I thought I was the only one....whoohooooo!
What do you think of Elvis Costello and the Attractions....I used to love to go watch them play.
I am SO envious of you going to see Robert Plant and Alison - that is going to be an amazing gig - and ooooh the Foo's too - it cant get much better than that...can it????
I am definately in the wrong place in this world, at least for seeing bands(no comments Lukky thank you!)
Good on you Knoxy - will need a report in September please

Echo, I was a punker too.
I was more of a Clash, Ramones, Dead Kennedy's, The Damned, X, Sham 69, etc. gal.
Regarding Elvis Costello - I love him. I actually love his melodic stuff more - the Burt Bacharach stuff is awesome. I have tickets to see him and the Police at the Hollywood Bowl here in L.A., but unfortunately, I can't go and I have to sell them.
I love music. It truly saves me. I love pretty much all kinds of music excluding country. I still consider myself a little punker girl... just more yuppified.
Awesome!

Gabs, you mean you like that guy that sings with Little Steven? I forget that guys name, but he plays alright if I remember...... hehehe
I'm like you I love a little of everything. Got some crazy friend out there that has me listening to country music too. But I will not give it up to Merle Haggard!!!! (an ongoing battle with my dad LOL)
BILLY JOEL is my hero........ He could sing the phone book and I will listen and love it! _________________

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Knoxy and Gabs......The Clash!!!! I forgot them for a while how could I? And I love the Ramones too....and all that CeeBeeGeeBees stuff.
Now youve got me...Im remembering the day I saw Billy Idol walking down the road with a bare chest and a massive flag tied round his neck(Windy knows I loved Billy Idol too when as well as Gen X) and
Yes, Elvis Costello is brilliant whatever he plays...have you heard Red Shoes?, and I love Allison. I also think Burt Bacharach is extremely cool and always will be.
Cant believe that you have to miss that Elvis/Police gig....Windy and I would probably give our right arms to go to that...well, Id give hers anyway LOL (Sorry windy!)
OK Fess up Punker Ladies...how many piercings do you have in your ears? Had 5 in one ear and 4 in the other...sadly no longer used. cos now I am sort of like Knoxy, well next stage on, bit older I think...through the hard working yuppie stage and living in the country with a dog - though will always be a bit rebellious at heart LOL
Im really excited to find some Punk fans......
Gabs, I love the Cure, Robert Smith......an icon, oh and New Order.... and Brian Ferry - fantastic!
And what happened to that guy that was lead singer of Depeche Mode - he was so clean cut? lol
Also love Billy Joel, and the Boss....and......Thompson Twins, idolise early Lou Reed and ...oh carry on someone ....

The Boss? You mean that guy that sings with my Steven?
Ok, I had three piercings in each ear. Never was part of the "other" area stuff. I still sometimes when I find a cute pair of little earrings will use my 2nd hold piercings, like studs. And the other week I found a pair of cute cow earings so I wore a pair of hoops with the cows in the second holes.
Was always too chicken to get up in the cartillage of the ear. Everyone always said it hurt!
Billy Joel? It's Still Rock And Roll To Me...... always.... Played it on my granny's stereo which is now in my living room. I'm so proud to have it. _________________
