Who's on First?

You say "the children come first
You think (just not before me)

You say "their happiness matters most"
You think (but don't interfere with mine)

You say "the children are most important"
You think (except for my hate for you)

You say "I'm concerned for their needs"
You think (I need them to hurt you)

It is but the image of caring to say they come first
For often it is the children who suffer the worst
Nowhere in reality, but only in the mind of this man
Is it acceptable for children to be used in the battle plan

I wrote this in 1993, it reflected my situation at the time. As you can see the methods do not change for these guys.

The Mask of Love

To innocence comes death, so smooth
it's silky arms wrap round
the unsuspecting one.
Embraced in the disguise of love,
the soft caress, the gentle hug soon
hardens and takes hold.
The anger, smoldering, dark and boiling,
soon threatens to explode.
The tremble of fear is barely felt
admist the roar of thunder.
Injustice prevails, lies are truth,
a scream goes unheard,
a life disappears,
hardly known to exist.

This was written in 1993 and reflected my thoughts and life situation. I did not expect to be left live through this time.

I especially love the second one of these - the first is poignant and, sadly, too often true. The second wrapped its fingers around my heart strings and pulled.

Keep writing, girl. Smile

Wow, you've brought tears to my eyes, and sadly I have to agree, the children always suffer...............I know mine did and so many of us here have been there.................and horrifically so many still are.........It's incredibly painful and I'm so sorry for the horror you lived;........Always, Theresa
