I dont know what the tax laws are in the US.
Let your lawyer know what has happened.
$250.00...I know we all stretch the money as far as we can...but...is it worth the grief at the end of the day?
I would have done either of 2 things
1) not signed the cheque at all or
2) just let him have it all.
