As a musician myself, I was most impressed with the talent these two men displayed. But, I have been missing the humor of the equally talented Victor Borge. It occurred to me that these two men combined make up a new "Victor Borge." Thanks for posting this for our benefit.

In case you all are too young to even have heard of Victor, and you want some more good laughs, I suggest you find some of his old videos (I hope they exist.)

I have loved the lyrics of "I Will Survive" since I first heard them. I imagine all of us "survivors" have made it our "theme song."

Hi Blooming,

Yeah-those bermuda shorts and knee high socks! Did you check out any of their other clips too-watch the Rachmaninov had big hands and also the Piano Lesson-well actually they are all really funny and worth a good chuckle. They are definitely in the vein of Victor Borge-he was hilarious and they are really funny too.

Btw-I am also a musician-what is your instrument?

And I knew the lyrics of I will survive would connect here-it has been going around in my head for the last two days. I like the part about here you are, back from outer space-and also "I grew strong." so true.

Yes, I knew you were a musician. Eager to share music background with you.

My instruments are the piano and flute. I have an electronic baby grand that I had to fight with EX to let me have (he can't play a note) and I had to pay the freight to ship it here but it was worth it. I have a Gemeinhardt open hole flute, finally purchased with inheritance money from my mother, in spite of EX's objections.

I don't practice enough these days and I haven't auditioned for the symphony here. Some bad memories associated with both that come up occasionally to stop me.

One: I played the Rachmaninoff piece to win a full four-year tuition scholarship just as I was to start college. Ex was so jealous (I now know) that he "forced' me into marriage and whisked me off to Oregon to put him through med school. While there he wouldn't even let me buy a $50 used upright. Six years without a piano. Two: He also sold my expensive Armstrong flute for a small TV set. I SHOULD have left him then but I was 1/2 a continent away from family and friends. (STUPID EXCUSE!)

Change of subject needed. I can't believe that I misspelled "bermuda." My excuse is that I have just finished editing the first 58 pages of a colleague's dissertation - where I could use SpellCheck. LOL

Question: This was the first time I had entered that music website. How do I register so I can add the videos to My Music folder? Or is something wrong with my computer? I do know I need a new keyboard.

Disengaging -- HUH? I am a life-long Christian (multi-denominational background) and in my 70 years, I have always heard the term "Holy Week" by all of the Christians I know, catholic or otherwise. Even my Moslem "son" refers to "Holy Week."

Did you perhaps make an presumption about Foglight's beliefs? No biggie. No one is perfect and knows everything -- except Ns, unfortunately. LOL!

First, I find it difficult to believe that a Muslem would refer to a Christian holiday as "Holy Week"! To consider the resurection of Christ as "holy" would be denying their own faith! Never heard such a thing.

Did I make a presumption? No, I drew a corrolation based not SOLELY on the use of the term "Holy Week", but also the term, "struggling christian" and sorry but nope! People of non-catholic christian faiths in normal conversation would have only said "Easter". Their minister might use it to describe various upcoming services, but "Holy Week" is not a term ordinary parishioners of most christian religions use, especially when it wasn't even the topic of conversation!

Second, once again, the term "struggling christian" is a Catholic expression taken directly from St. Augustine's work: "From One Struggling Christian to Another." From this, the catholic church developed a wide variety of man-made doctrines supposedly to assist the "struggling christian" acheive that "state of grace" necessary in their religious beliefs to, well, for lack of a better way of expressing it, "to get into heaven". None of which appear anywhere in the bible.

Now, as a Christian, I don't have clue one as to how the Catholic church ever even managed to even nominate Augustine for sainthood, much less actually designate him as such!

Snowy's "interpretation" of this was interesting, but if you actually ever read the works of St. Augustine, in particular, his "Confessions", then you would know what he was really struggling over--specifically, it was his HOMOSEXUALITY!

This is not in dispute, not even in the Catholic Church. The only thing that is in dispute is whether or not he actually acted on his gay desires.

But to be specific here, he turned to God in greif and despair after losing his male "soulmate" to death, writing about his love for him in Confessions 4.6 "For I felt that my soul and his were one soul in two bodies, and therefore life was a horror to me, since I did not want to live as a half; and yet I was also afraid to die lest he, who I had loved so much, would completely die."

No, his love was not "platonic", as Augustine goes on describe his sexual desire for his deceased male friend by saying "Thus I contaminated the spring of friendship with the dirt of lust and darkened its brightness with the blackness of desire."

I don't think that leaves any room for doubt as to the fact that his desire for his male friend was sexual in nature. Augustine also had a female concubine for 15 years, although he never writes anywhere near as passionately about her! No wonder St. Augustine seems to be a favorite with the Catholic gay community.

Not that I have anything against gay people! To each his own.

Now when you talk about what is offensive to different people's faith? Well many other Christian religions, specifically, those considered to be "fundamentalist", have a real problem with the term "struggling christian" of the Catholic religion, specifically because they know this is what it was originally based on. For this reason, they would not use that term.

And this is why I drew the corrolation that Foglight was, in all likelihood, Catholic.

As far as lightening up, some things are very sacred to people, and there is nothing wrong with that nor will I allow myself to be influenced otherwise or stay silent because of pressure. It was not my original post, but by posting it, you are setting yourself up for impending disagreement, because Christianity, is, like it or not, very sacred to some people. And what others find sacred about it -- Easter eggs don't bother me in the least, but the video sure does -- is different among Christians apparently. And that is my last word on this subject.

Yeah well, there's a lot of things that are "sacred" to me, and I find many things offensive--for example those pagan symbols of easter eggs and bunnies, however when I see them, I don't normally chastise people, tell them how "offended" I am, call them "heathens" or make an issue of it! I do not consider it my place to try to impose MY religious beliefs on other people.

My Christian beliefs are very sacred to me, and I resent the implication in your post that somehow they're not! Just because I don't view certain things the way you do, really does not give you license to imagine that I was inviting a critique of my faith as I certainly was not!

Easter eggs don't bother you? But the video does, huh? Well, that is YOUR opinion. Are you trying to imply that YOUR opinion is somehow superior to mine? That your faith is somehow superior to mine? How exactly is that NOT narcissistic?

I've watched this thread for awhile and feel it's time to step in.

First off, I'm going to move this thread to the "Anything Goes" section.

Secondly: Remember that when you post anything about a religious based or politically based theme, it will bring up all kinds of opinions. There are other forums on the internet that are available to those that wish to discuss such topics. This forum is intended to support those who live or have lived with Narcissistic and/or Psychopathic personality disordered "significant others".

I do ask that we all try to remember the intent of this forum.

Thank you
