Question for knoxy

Postby Bri on Tue Sep 29, 2009 7:40 pm

I know it said to click on the link but whenever i tried it says it cannot connect. I am wondering about writing so much that the subject screen only starts moving up and down constantly with every key stroke? Is that normal? If so, why? If not, is there any solution to it on my end that you think might work? It is not the entire screen, only the subject typing area.
Thank you.

Ps. i couldn't even figure out how to contact privately to a moderator, so this was the only solution i could come up with. I am not complaining since i see complaints are used as a reason to throw someone off. Just curious.
Thanks again.

Hi there,

I'm going to move this question and answer to the Testing and Trying out the forum area.

I'm sorry - I don't know which link you are referring to. Can you please link me to the referring post?

Regarding "flashing" in long messages - I get this as well. I researched it in various PHPBB forums and this is what I found.

Q: He ........ has problems with the screen flashing or rebounded via text boxes when posting or editing. I'm not entirely sure of these issues, so forgive me for not being able to explain them better.

A: This is a problem with IE8. If your user is using IE8 just tell him to use it in compatibility mode (or use Firefox or chrome) & his problem will disappear.
Will probably be a future (proper) fix in either an IE8 or a phpBB3 update.

It doesn't happen with Firefox, so if you would like to download firefox as a browser, that might be a better option for you.

BTW, we don't kick people off for legitimate concerns and issues with the forum. We've had issues with individuals complaining and taking focus away from the recovery here. I hope I was able to help you!

Thank you Knoxy, you did help and i will try the compatiblity mode first. It's a computer i mostly work on
so hate to download even more stuff to it. But will try it if it doesn't work.

As for the link i'm not certain where i found that anymore. I was going around and looking for a help
place and found a link that says Ask here and it didn't work. Now, of course, i can't even find that section
again. Should have copied and pasted it at the time. If i run across it again i'll send it your way.

Somehow i didn't think to try Testing and Tryout for my question area, a duh moment for me here.

Thanks again
