Happy N-free Independence Day!

Postby ardvark on Fri Jul 03, 2009 5:32 pm

Wishing everyone a N-free, relaxing July 4th! Congrats to everyone who has their independence via NC! Honor yourself for that accomplishment.

What are ya'll doing for the 4th? Post your plans here.

I'm going to be in a neighborhood parade with my cub scout pack. Then, I'm going to a hotel that faces the fireworks. Fireworks in mosquito-free, traffic-free air conditioning. Sweet!

P.S. If you're Canadian, happy late Canada Day! If you're British, we still love ya! If I've left anyone else out, happy happy!

Happy 4th to you too Ardvark!

Honestly, we don't have anything special planned. Our kiddos are asleep before it's dark out, but we usually watch neighborhood fireworks from our second story windows.

But I will enjoy an N-free day!

Happy 4th to everyone in the US!

no plans! But I do like watching the fireworks on TV. I have a BBQ on Sunday, but not too exciting. I still love the summer weather and long weekend. . .

The hotel plan sounds great, advark! Happy 4th!

Happy 4th everyone!

My son and I have spent the day dodging Nmom, for the most part.

I just learned that she had driven by our house a couple of times earlier today, saw our vehicle in the driveway, started making plans for us to spend time with her, and then a little later while we were driving somewhere she called and I made the mistake of answering.

She was trying to get information out of me and I refused to answer her. I kept everything short.

HER: Are you home?

ME: No.

HER: No? (In a disgusted tone of voice because she expects me to tell her exactly where I am, what I'm doing, etc., but I wouldn't do it.)

ME: No.

HER: I jut went by your house and your vehicle was there.

ME: And?

HER: I need SON to come help me with chore A, B and C.

ME: He's not available.

HER: Not available? What does that mean? Where is he? What's he doing? You know I'm a little tired of you people never having time for me after all I do for you.

ME: I've got to go.

HER: Are you on something?

I hung up on her.

So, because I refuse to share every detail of our lives and I refuse to drop everything to fall into her trap to get us into her house for the day, she has decided I am "on something."

My son and I were able to spend some quiet time together at a nice restaurant and we started making some plans as far as financial goals and deadlines to get ourselves out from under her control.

How's that for "independence day"?

It felt really really good putting that machine on the road! I just had to have this, too:

It may even have had some dark meaning.
