Dear Dr Vaknin
Our former vicar displays all the traits of NPD, in the malignant form. A couple of years ago, my husband had a falling out with the vicar (because he was literally running our lives) and we left the parish. Ever since then, the vicar has been engaged in a smear campaign against my husband and has tried to ruin his reputation in front of anyone who would listen. This would not worry us so much except that my husband has now approached our bishop with the view of being ordained to church ministry. Our former vicar has found out about my husband's intentions and has tried to contact our bishop, and other ministers in our church, in an effort to spread more lies about my husband and prevent his ordination. We would like to put in a complaint to the vicar's bishop but we fear that it may only provoke further vindictive behaviour towards us. It is difficult to find compelling, written evidence against him and his bullying tactics (as they often occurred in private meetings), and other people who have been psychologically damaged by him (and there are many) have simply disappeared off the scene and do not want to become involved in fighting him on an official level. Do we have any hope in stopping his ongoing persecution of us?
