Oh my, isn't that interesting! We're twins! I have nerve damage affecting my left hand too. Left pinky and the pinky side of my ring finger! The numbness and tingling starts from my wrist then down to those fingers, palm and the back of my hand too. All this started after I passed out and hit my head. My neck and back were pretty screwed up. I went to a chiropractor for about a month and a half, with no relief to my hand. Then I was refered to a neurologist who found the problem started in my neck and gave me a steriod injection (in the neck). That helped my neck trememdously, but not my hand. I then went for a cat scan, which fortunately was negative for any tumors pushing on the nerve, but it (and xrays) confirmed degenerating disks in my neck. The nerve may not recover, but it still might. I understand nerve damage takes a long time to heal. It's been bothering me since around the middle of December.
I wear a wrist brace to bed, but don't usually wear it during the day because the doctors don't want my muscles to dystrophy. If I type too much, yes, it is painful.
So, take care of the hand Tammy and I do recommend the brace. Icing the wrist/palm area could help too, if there is swelling there. There are also exercises to do. But you probably already know about all this.

I will ask next time I talk to him Cookie k......I am unsure how successful it was for him as don't see my parents very often... Maybe only once a year and it is impossible to get much sence out of him on the phone as he is extremely deaf!!! Poor old boy!! He just agrees with everything I say...LOL could be telling him ANYTHING...LOL
I'll see if my Mum knows much about it.. although she is totally computor illiterate and tunes out as soon as computors are even mentioned...LOL
Wow Lemon sounds like you got lots of remedies for this carpel tunnel,, Must be a horrible thing by the sounds of it!!!...... Sure hope our Tammy girl gets it sorted soon.... Did I hear there was an operation some people have for it?? _________________ 'The Best reaction is no reaction'

I got a program like that once Kooky Kiwi ( ) and I never could get the darn thing right. Of course i was on an ancient computer at the time. I might check into finding it again for when I do have my surgery done because then I won't be able to type at all for awhile! And not talking to you guys would be like death or sumthin!!!!! _________________

Windsong, I am sorry to hear of your carpal tunnel syndrome, the surgery really has helped some people,,
I say a wee prayer for your speedyness through this ordeal, thank goodness for children who will assist,,
There are programs out there, also look at seeing a occupational therapist, they know of programs that will dictate for you, and accessories to help with daily living even adapting your computer so you can use it,,
I wish you godspeed in this situation
fingers crossed

Hi Ocean,
I've got an aunt that had the surgery in both hands and didn't help, mother had one hand done and it's helped and dad had both done and it's helped him tremendously. I think it all depends on how bad the nerve damage is.
But I didn't think about talking to an OT. I've got a girlfriend that I used to work with at the hospital with that was and still is an OT I think. I'll talk to her, give her a call. Thanks for the idea!
Thanks for the fingers crossed. Damn shame I can't cross my own right now LOL! _________________
