Some Tips For You If You Think You Are Being Cyberstalked
By: Windy
First of all, if you suspect that you are being cyberstalked or someone is hacking your system I would recommend that you run a spyware program. I use spybot, and it is really good. I've had it for about six months now, and run an expert check once or twice a week. Ever since the first check, it's kept me clear of spyware. Heres a link to read and offers the download:

The next thing you want to do is make sure that you have a good firewall. I use zone alarm, which is said to be one of the best out there. They often provide a free trial of the pro one they have that regularly costs money. Then after the trial expires you can load in the free version. The free version still tracks ISP numbers although you won't get the map telling you where the hacker is coming from. When you first download it, it will go nuts. If you haven't already had a firewall believe me, hackers have hit you and will keep trying for a while until they realize that you are now protected. And in many cases it is just automatic programs that are tracking what websites you visit so they know what kind of mail to spam you with. Like you love music, so you visit a lot of music sites. Well, then magically you will receive mails from mp3, ampcast, and many others with special deals and offers. But, if you are being hacked by someone other than these types of programs, it will stop that too. Here is a link for Zone:

Next, get you a good virus program. There are many free ones out there. You don't have to pay for Norton or Mcaffee or other ones, I think Mcaffee offers a one time free scan, but I don't know about Norton. I use AVG 6.0 which is said to be one of the best. What I really like about it is that it does a regularly scheduled check every day without me having to remember it. And it gets rid of viruses or isolates the ones that it cannot get rid of. Here is the link to that:

And finally, if you suspect that he is hacking you, the last advice that I can offer you is to change everything that you have been doing.
Changing email: Don't use your name in your email. Like say your name is Betty Jones. Don't use bettyjones@aol.com or any version of that. And if you are a fan of something that he knows about, say like I am a fan of the beach boys which he would know. Don't use tammyluv@aol.com or anything like that. Use something a screen name or alias that he would not know.
Change passwords: Most everything I have read says change your password often. I don't do that, but I know I should. But because of my ADD I know I could forget. But it is a very good idea. And use something that he would not know. Don't use birthdays, names of your kids, anything obvious. Use letter and number combinations. Or the birthday of your great grandma or something that he would not know! LOL!
Using handles: If you go on message boards (duh this is one Tammy lol) use a handle, something he would not know. Don't send links out in your emails. Keep it as quiet and private as possible. My XNP could find boards I visited as well because I used to not use handles. He would then flame the boards, impersonate me and get people mad at me.
Use a pseudo email: There are many many free based webmail programs out there. I did a search once and found dozens of them. But the best that I have used are hotmail.com and yahoo.com. You can use a fake name. Like say your name is Betty Jones, use Susan Ratcliff. Something totally different. Don't use a family member or anything like that. Make something totally off the wall. Use a fake zipcode from another state. I have several different ones. All you have to do is type it in a search engine: zipcodes. If you have a problem doing this just email me and I can help you. windsongsharmony@gmail.com
Here are some extra links to look through and decide what is best for you. Remember, there are loads of free stuff out there, and it is just as good or better than the stuff you pay for! So, check it out:

Be safe when surfing the internet. Never give out your name, address, phone number or any personal information to someone you do not know. Thats common sense, but you would be suprised how many will do it.
If you don't know who is sending you an email or instant message, don't accept or open it.
