Hey Lived... I was wrong, it wasn't A&E... it was Biography Channel!

For such a gloom topic, it was surprisingly hopeful. These people survived some horrific things. One woman in the first episode had been kidnapped, brought to an open field, raped, shot... the guy walked off a bit, turned back, shot her again.... then walked back to her and shot her again. She said she felt like 'just to make sure I was dead'. She just played dead until she heard his vehicle drive away. Then got up, fell down, got up again and she said her body adrenaline just kicked in and another 'survival' mindset kicked in. She ran and ran til she saw a house, banged on the door and a man opened the door and immediately yelled for his wife to dial 911 and to get a blanket. Said the last thought on her mind was she was standing there naked and bloody at someone's doorstep - all she was thinking was 'i need a hospital'. Turned out, this man was a US soldier and knew some first aid from combat training. Amazingly, this woman had a wonderful attitude, and is back teaching school now. She had to have 3 surgeries and i think 4 months of rehab. Kind of puts things in perspective. The guy who tried to kill her was caught when he 'returned to the scene' with friends to show them what he had done.

There was another guy who's SUV broke down in a snow storm. Survived something like 10 days in a blizzard in his vehicle with very little food or water. He would have to get out and open the vehicle doors and try to shovel snow away to keep the doors from being sealed shut and being buried under the snow. Something like 8' of snow!

Here's a link to the TV show website on Biography.com : http://www.biography.com/isurvived/index.jsp?utm_source=google&utm_medium=CPC&utm_term=i+survived+tv+show&utm_campaign=i+survived&keywords=i+survived+tv+show&paidlink=1&ref_str=http%3A//www.google.com/search%3Fq%3Di+survived+tv+show%26sourceid%3Dnavclient-ff%26ie%3DUTF-8%26rlz%3D1B3GGGL_enUS266US266%26aq%3Dt

The websites intro statement:

"What would you do if you were confronted with death? What gives someone the strength to survive? Is it luck, chance, instinct? In a stripped-down, simple-yet-cinematic interview style, I Survived... allows survivors to explain, in their own words, how they overcame unbelievable circumstances -- offering insight into what got them through the experience that changed their lives forever.
I Survived... is storytelling at its most dramatic, most basic and most honest."

Comes on Mondays 9e/8c.
