lifeblood drained the face
taking in the black of night
seeing there the final scenes
violent, useless, death of dreams
rage came about the time
the opened door was
slammed shut on my mind
I swam in the silent emptiness
beneath the seething surf
as waves pounded the shore
on deaf ears, denied reality
fear, ever present
stalks the periphery of bright days
and the future lies dormant.
