In adult relationships, The N is an adult child, not an adult.
It is true what they say -- The opposite of love is not hatred, but indifference.

Hey Thay! Nice to meet up in a thread with you again. It's been awhile!!!

This is one of my most favorite you tube video's and I have watched this about a thousand times at least lol (well close any ways!) and yes, it's Boss, But LS joins him in a at the time special moment.

This is why I say "music is magic". Boss gets it, LS get's it!

I have to respond to a few submissions in this great thread, which I am just now getting around to viewing.

thay - I am so happy young people are still enjoying Yes, they were one of my favorites when I was in high school, like 35 years ago. (But how did they get so OLD looking in that video?) You made a convert with the Opeth track. I have to admit tho, I don't get the video part..it's just pointless and insipid and distracting to me, but the SONG! it's beautiful. I will definitely be checking out more from them.

and Snuffy - I am so sad to hear about John Martyn! Unfortunately he was never well-known in the US, not as much as he deserved, anyway. I always loved the way his style kept evolving, and he would constantly re-work his old songs so they were always new and fresh. Thanks for the tribute to a very creative and underappreciated artist.

Now I am going to see if I can figure out how to find & post one or two of my own. Thanks to everybody - I've really enjoyed this thread! - zman

This song comes close to describing what it felt like to be my NM's only son:

...and then of course, there's the guitar work.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vpi0rJzQ ... re=related

and one more...I find the words to this amusing. They are to a young female N.

Word of warning about Opeth, they're essentially a metal band "Harvest" isn't typical of their music, they're a lot heavier than that most of the time.

I enjoyed Richard Thompson.

My next door neighbor who was a good friend to me passed away today. He had a massive heart attack and didn't make it. I'm so sad and I am going to dedicate one of my favorite songs to him. Boss dedicated it to his best friend when he passed away. It's called "Terry's Song". It's to Al. Al, I shall miss you very much, my friend.:

Any body out there who says prayers please say some for his wife and two daughters for me this evening.

This is about as basic as music gets technically - but so rich in feeling and nuance. Like a poet, he says so much with so little -

windy, I am very sorry about your neighbor. A next-door neighbor who is also a good friend is a rare gift. My thoughts and prayers going out now. Very fitting tribute, that song. Attitude is indeed a power stronger than death.

thanks for the metal alert! You know how us old geezers are - expose us accidentally to music that sounds like lug nuts in a blender and off to the home we go! Seriously, I already checked out a couple of their other tracks and I like them. Very creative. I do think that with age, I tend to prefer slower music, perhaps to match my metabolism.

They are amazing musicians Opeth, the metal genre has some of the most amazing musicians going around in it. You just don't get that quality of musicianship in commercial rock, indie rock, not even close. Jazz and metal imo are the winners formula, the best music, the best musicians. Opeth did an album called "Damnation" without any distorted vocals, it is a very mellow album, very beautiful.

Here is a track off it:
Opeth - In My Time of Need

God I love this band!

I thoroughly enjoyed this Zanderman, the beauty of the blues! It is what you don't do often that counts for so much, certainly the case with the blues. Saw raw and basic but so honest, no pretension.

Thanks Zander. I really appreciate it. I miss Al already. He was a very good friend and a wonderful person all around. He was only 56 years old. My parents are older than him.
Thanks again and take care xxxxxxxxx

It's funny because I just left one in a response to your Dana Carvey post on my Spinal Tap thread. Then I came here and saw this. :)

Thank you Zander. I didn't see this it kind of slipped down the topics page. I was so upset to be honest I didn't even remember I did that. I didn't get to go to Al's funeral, but they had his procession here at their house and I was able to see that. Al drove a city bus for thirty some years and they had city buses here, two of them "out of service" with huge white bows on them and about fifty drivers, all in uniform all standing around the buses. I had one rose, with a letter to heaven to Al, and I put it on the fence after they left. My little note to Al to thank him for being such a good friend and let him know how much I would miss him. The procession was awesome. Oh, Al also drove limo's part time as well and his limo company provided the limo for the family to ride in. It was just awesome and I know Al would have loved it. It also provided me with being able to say goodbye with quietness and the solace that I needed.
