Thats very interesting. I can read it too. I wonder if its anything to do with hypervigilance in abuse survivors - looking at the whole picture before us rather whats expected to be there?

I can also read this! Wow, only about half can? You said:

If you can read this than you have a strange mind. Can you read this? Only 55 people out of 100 can?

I wonder who wouldn't be able to read this? Maybe I will test my H for fun! I was surprised how quick and easy it was for me to read. odd. Do you know why some people can read it and some can't???

I got this as one of those chain emails from a friend so have no idea the scientific reasoning behind it. I just copied and pasted the whole thing.

I think this is along the line of the “We only use 10% of our brain” myth. The “study” is likely a hoax, but it does reveal a lot about how we read.

First, it is a basically a magician’s trick because the words aren’t very scrambled, not with the first and last word being fixed in place. The fixed first and last letter taps into our shape recognition capabilities. The first and last letters provides an outline of sorts. Letter and word order can be mixed up and not necessarily prevent reading and the comprehension The key is whether our brain can engage in the phenomenon of "closure," or making whole the parts we can discern.

Closure causes us to a circle when there is only a line segment drawn in the shape of a circle with the end points close together, but not touching. Closure is the reason we do not always recognize typos: the order and sequence of the letters is organized into a known pattern even when some of the letters required are missing or misaligned.

Though the study is fake, it is not false that our brains engage in closure to create order in all that we perceive.
