OOOOO! Mac and cheese!!! I LOVE mac and cheese! Share your recipe Bloom??? I've never thought about making it in the crock pot!
I'm heating up some left over chicken and dumplings (the big, puffy bread type). Years ago, I ate some "dumplings" that were more like a fat (thickness) but flat noodle. Anyone make that type???? It was good.

| Can you get a biscuit mix like "Bisquick" (Betty Crocker) there Lukky? That's all I do is make up a batch of that and then drop globs of the batter into any simmering liquid. Cook for 10 mins. then cover and cook for another 10 mins. Works fine for dumplings.

I'll have to have a look next time I go to the Supermarket Lemon (which actually needs to be real soon as the pantry truly is looking real bare!!!)..... My kids just love them as well.....Geeeeeeeeez they would be so excited if I ventured out of my comfort zone of cooking and actually served them up dumplings!!! Be like Christmas for them... think my meals actually bore them half to death...lol ....They never say anything cause I can have a fiery temper if they so much as mutter a word of ungratefulness in regards to food....lol (ohhhhhhh only words by the way)
They always say thanks Mum that was great!! but I am sure they are smiling behind my back at each other...lol dont blame them really,,, I look at the meals as well and thing shucks that looks kinda boring!! _________________ 'The Best reaction is no reaction'

Lemon, if you are really serious, here is the recipe. I was so surprised others liked mac and cheese, too.
Melt together 1/2 stick of real butter and 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese. Add salt and pepper and a 1/2 tsp of powdered mustard (I used some mustard sauce.) Stir in a can of cheddar cheese soup (I used celery soup). Pour into a crock pot with drained macaroni noodles. Cook on slow heat for 2 1/2 hours. Add more shredded cheddar cheese (a handful or so) and continue cooking for 1/2 hour more.
Easy preparation. I expected the macaroni to be soggy. It wasn't.
I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get the name of the Southern cooking lady. Sorry. She is an inspiration to me. She was a single mother with two young sons and she started cooking in a restaurant -- and when her sons got older, they helped her run a catering business. She did so well that they asked her to "teach" cooking on TV. Now she does the TV show from her own kitchen and makes OODLES of money. Recently, she remarried and her husband - a fisherman -- helps her. He often appears on the show and he idolizes her -- and she him. They warm my heart.
There is hope for us, girls!! Good men ARE out there.
Thanks, all, for the laughs. I needed them -- and the strength of one of you with pneumonia and pleursy. What an inspiration you all are to me. (My sense of humor is still surpressed -- but listening to all of you. I think it will return) _________________ "My intuition is God's gift to me. Using it is my gift to God."

The dudette with pneumonia and pleurisy says that you should stick with us Blooming if you want to get your sense of humor back. She understands what you are saying because the one with the P&P she went through that not being able to find humor for a long time post NP aftermath. But as you will find out here she got it back in waves and waves and tidlewaves LMAO So stick with us here when you can and you'll have no choice but to find some humor. Because the nuts on this board will make you laugh all the time at every moment. I think the others will agree!!!!
Oh, and the P&P lady LOVESSSSSS some Mac and Cheese and she will try your recipe too! _________________

Paula, Bloom? She's on the cooking channel, on cable here.
Thanks for the recipe! I'll give that a try soon. It sounds good
Oh Lukky After I posted that URL for German dumplings, I thought about it and deleted it. I'll put it back up, but these dumplings go best with a beef/pork dish or soup. I don't think they'd be good with chicken ....... but hey, maybe they would.
Here's a url for one type: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Semmelknoedel-Bread-Dumplings/Detail.aspx When I helped to make them, we didn't put in the parsley or onions, but they would be good that way. Also, when they say large ball, we formed the mixture into about 3 inch balls. These dumplings are heavy, very different from the drop-biscuit (dough) type.

Nummmmm! I'll be right there Yes, the German dumplings would go good with a beef dish. Probably the most important thing is don't add too much liquid when you make up the ingredients. You want to be able to make a firm ball from it (but not so dry that they'd fall apart either).

| LOL, my lasagna isn't for anyone on a low-fat diet either. I put in mozzerella, cheddar and cottage cheese. And loads of it. It's a good thing it only gets made a couple of times a year.
